The Game Industry Conference (GIC) is an event known for drawing top minds in game development and technology. It took place next to the Poznan Game Arena and was an excellent place for learning, networking, and strategic discussions. The space was pretty huge.
One of our primary goals was to meet up with other companies working in or adjacent to the mocap space to build up some new professional relationships. We were very lucky to meet up with the teams from Bones Studio and eNstudios! If you don’t know these studios then you should definitely check them out because they’re working on really cool stuff. 🙂
One of the highlights of the event was the panel discussion called “Your Success in Japan,” featuring one of our advisors John Goodale. They emphasized the critical role of localization in the gaming industry, using the Japanese market as a key example. The key takeaway for us was that to succeed in new regions, we must invest in local teams capable of adapting solutions to meet market-specific needs. Which only reinforces the idea that we want to start building a team in the US as soon as possible!
We also got a chance to attend a private multiplayer-focused dinner that provided a unique perspective on that gaming ecosystem. While multiplayer game development isn't our core focus at Kapnetix, the conversations enriched our understanding of broader industry challenges and innovative solutions that could indirectly impact our approach. It was also just really enjoyable.
Oh, and there was also a silent disco. Not really our thing, but definitely something to experience once. 😅
